So another year has passed…and wow did it ever pass. The first few months of the year went by at a seemingly normal pace but then it’s as if the year just picked up steam and flew by. This past year has been a unique one and if I’m being honest, a very fairly difficult one as well. When I first decided that 2014 would be a year with no expectations, with no goals, with no firm plans, it felt…wrong. I’m a planner. I have ambition. I have goals. Andrew jokes that I plan so that I can be spontaneous. Which, as much as I hate to admit it, seems to be true. I make plans only to have the freedom to toss them to the wind if I feel like it. I’m not sure what kind of a planner that makes me but it’s how I’ve operated the majority of my life. Having no plans, no goals, no real lists for 2014 was so unlike me – I should have seen that it was God and His plan for my year slowly emerging. Looking back tends to have 20/20 vision but when you’re in the midst of the confusion, of the whirlwind, of the hardships it’s hard to see the why or understand the peace you truly have no matter how chaotic things may seem.
2014 was difficult but my clients were incredible. They made us laugh, they made us cry as they danced slowly with their true loves, their speeches made us tear up and when we walked away, we felt as if we were a part of something great. So! Without any further fuss, the ongoing battle of “who can take the best worst photo of the other person” goes on…

He laughs with his whole self…I love it. Not even a chuckle will escape his lips without everyone around him smiling.
That time I scolded my bride and the groom looked at me like he was gonna kill me…no, totally kidding – I have no idea what’s going on here but it involved giggles and happiness and sparkles – I’m sure of it!

When I tried to step outside of my usual all black wedding day attire box…and then subsequently shrunk the pants in the dryer. Word to the wise, read the tags on your clothes – apparently they are there for a reason.
I had a lot of help this year. Sickness, car accidents and life made me lean on a dear friend, Leslie of Freshly Bold Photography. Without her this year I don’t think I would have made it. She carried gear, took charge of bridal parties and ran around like a crazy person when I simply couldn’t. She is the hidden little gem of my business this year.
She and Andrew get along great – like weirdly great, clearly.
This is our “it’s not gonna rain, we got this” face…if you’re wondering, it did rain and we still got it.
Like I said, car accidents. Car accidents are the devil and should never happen before wedding days…or ever for that matter.
Okay so I swear we were working in this picture. I have a habit of showing my brides and grooms how I want them to pose by using Andrew and myself. {When it was just Leslie and I, I maaaaaay have been super awkward and used her as my prop…maybe ^_^ }
Okay so does anyone remember the Hobbit outfit I mentioned?

Yup, Hobbit – that right there is a little maroon hobbit if I’ve ever seen one. Sheeeeesh I needed the fashion police on that one!

Ah the beard, I do not miss it. Not. One. Bit.

Teamwork ladies and gents! Teamwork.

There once was a wedding photographer who put a napkin holder in her hair…
Looking back at years one, two, three, four and daaaaang now five of doing this In Action thing, I think what has most changed {other than camera ability and editing style} is my hair. This year’s hairstyle brought to you by ombre experiments!

My usual response to Andrew sticking a camera in my face…
Almost seven years later, him standing in the place where he asked me to marry him… Some weddings are a little more emotional when they’re at the exact spot where our story began.

Yea, that face is normal….totally normal.
Me and my weird reception lighting setup. I love it, it works but dang does it look ridiculous. Maybe this coming year I’ll find a less dorky and shoulder exhausting way of doing things. ^_^
Sometimes lighting tests really fail.
And that folks wraps up 2014!
