packaging

i’m a sucker for packaging. in one of our past favorite things posts, i mentioned that i pick things by the label. there isn’t really a rhyme or reason to it, ie: i couldn’t tell you what kind of label i would pick in advance. the other day i visited another one of my vises. the mac makeup counter at a local department store. i try my absolute hardest not to go into that store because without fail, i leave with a nice dent in my bank account, every time.

my favorite lady waved as she saw me coming, i only ever buy something if she’s there and she totally knows it. and that’s when i saw it. did i need anything at the mac counter? no. did i have to have the wonder woman line lipstick? most definitely. mac has this funny little way of using my vises in their advertising. last time it was disney…they totally had a disney villains line. and now, they are rockin the wonder woman line! and i was suckered in.

as i drove home, doing my little happy dance about my purchase, i realized something. packaging truly effects how you feel about the product. now, yes, i know there are thousands of marketing books that consider this a no brainer, but until i really experienced this for myself, it didn’t really sink in. thus emphasizing my decision to go with new packaging for 2011. i’ve wanted to invest in some great packaging that really reflected our olimb photography brand for awhile but i was too scared to make the investment. turns out that it’s not as scary as i thought. once we made the investment and i saw the first package go out, i realized that our brand truly is starting to represent who we are and i’m so, so proud of it.

dwell in possibility…

Oh my gosh I can’t wait to get one of these of my own!! I think it’s such a testament to you and your business that so many of your followers/clients/potential clients know so much about you and recognize your branding and favorite things and past clients. Way to go, girl! you are an inspiration.
