I jabbed my razor edged spoon into the segment. As if trying to fight me, the grapefruit launched a counter attack of fruit juice onto my face. Why are these things so dang hard to eat!? I asked my husband as I moved on to the next juicy segment. From behind his laptop, my patient husband just shrugged. You see, I eat a grapefruit nearly every day and complain about the onslaught of fruit juice squirts just as often. As the sound of his mouse pad clicked, he suggested that I simply squeeze the fruit into submission and drink the juice from a cup. It’s not the same, I replied as I hunched my shoulders and gave my grapefruit a determined look. I wiped a bit of grapefruit juice off my eyebrow and sighed. Surely, there has got to be an angle to push the spoon into the segment or a correct amount of pressure to apply or maybe it has to do with how quickly or how slowly you dig out the delicious little bits of fruit. If there is, I totally haven’t found it yet.

Grandmom used to use a paring knife and cut around each segment before she gave it to use to then use the spoon!
It’s time for you to learn the joys of a grapefruit knife. Works like a charm. 🙂
