As of late, Florida has been highly, well, un-Florida. We had snow days for crying out loud…SNOW days. In Florida. What’s with that!? While Florida has been in a state of confusion, I’ve had my nose pressed against my window begging the sun to come out. There’s something about the sun as it touches my skin that just floods me with warmth…not just physical, but a spiritual, emotional warmth. It’s inspiring. It’s healing. And while some manage to find inspiration and life in the coldness of winter, I struggle. Once the glitter, the sparkle and excitement of the holidays passes, there’s just this lull…every year there’s a lull. But this year I decided to get out from under my blankets, out of my wool socks and over-sized sweats, find some winter sun and kick the lull to the curb.

Winter light is soooooo very different from the usual Florida sun. I’m not sure why, I’m sure if I looked back over my notebooks from school I could read all about the why, the position of the sun and the change of seasons and all that jazz. Or! I can just oooh and aaah over it and learn how to photograph beautiful couples in any light. I mean come on, look at those two in that wintery light!
