wasps. bees. hornets. whatever. if it looks like bee, sounds like a bee, and has a stinger, i am so not okay with it. i blame my aunt really. “dont worry sweetie, just sit still and it wont sting you.” my hands trembled as i clutched my paper plate with a half eaten piece of pepperoni pizza. i held my breath and willed myself to sit still as i watched that stupid little bee land on my leg, then proceed to sting me. like i said, i blame my aunt. if i’d had my way, i would have been running and screaming across her front lawn.
this morning, as i started into my morning routine with my oatmeal with blueberries, the sound of wings and something hitting the window sent those memories of me sitting on my aunts kitchen counter with tears streaming down my cheeks into overdrive. i timidly began looking around the room, slowly opening the blinds. and there it was. a big-as-all-get-out wasp just taking it’s sweet time crawling up my office window. that next minute or two was a whirlwind. i’m fairly certain i shut down the programs on my computer, grabbed up the books and journals i would need for the day, my calendar, the labtop and my purse, closed the door to my office and shoved a towel under the door. i then called my mother, you know, to invite her over for lunch to kill a wasp. yes, i am aware that this makes me a complete coward.
total and complete coward.

I TOTALLY can relate…. My grandma tried to swat a red wasp when I was a kid, and she knocked it right onto me where it proceeded to sting in the worst way. There was one in our house the other day and I locked myself in the bedroom and sacrificed MK to the wasp gods. Survival of the fittest you know! 🙂
most definitely! when it comes to bees, all bets are off. survive or die. 🙂
