She had me at sparkly. Growing up, I never really felt I identified much with the “girly girl”. I wasn’t into pink unless I paired it with red, which made my mother cringe and suggest a different outfit. I liked ponies like most little girls but would rather ride one than see it decked out in a bedazzled Lisa Frank trapper keeper – though don’t get me wrong, I totally had one of those! But sparkle always made me happy and when Katie described her wedding as “romantic, sparkly, glamorous, fun!” visions of glitter and sparkly shoes danced in my head.
Katie and BJ are two of the sweetest people I have ever met. They gave me so much grace during their session as I worked with one good wrist and they never batted an eye when I asked for just a little more time with a pose because I was slow on a lens change. Now that my wrist has recovered from my car accident, I cannot wait for the sparkly romance filled wedding so that I can tackle those photos with both hands! Because while I can totally claim I can take good photos with one hand tied behind my back, proving that is so not easy!
I don’t usually play too much with the sunset haze on the beach. I think it’s because when I first started shooting, I didn’t know a way around it – lens flair baffled me and scared me when it came time for sunset – so as I grew as a photographer and learned how to shoot light, I stayed away from it. But for some reason, this just totally made me feel all warm and romantic inside and begged to be photographed!
