Ryan laced his hands around the small of Alexis’ back, allowing me a moment to take a “serious” photograph. As I focused on my settings I heard low voice, Ryan whispering to his future bride. I imaged the sweet nothings they might be sharing as I recomposed my frame for a new image. The two were still for a moment more before they two collapsed into laughter. That’s where I saw it…the laughter the joy, that’s where I found who Alexis and Ryan are, that’s where I found just how much they love and adore one another. As they stood before me on the very beach where they celebrated their engagement, I was completely taken by their smiles and their laughter. They fit perfectly together like pieces from a puzzle, Ryan holding her tight as her smile dances across her face.
They say that one of the keys to a good marriage is a sense of humor. I’m not sure who “they” are but I will agree that makes the top five. Joyful belly laughs shared between two people in love have always brought a warm and fuzzy feeling to my soul. You see, Andrew and I laugh a lot. Second to my talking, which is also a lot, laughter is one of the predominate constants in our lives together. There isn’t much that Andrew won’t do to make me smile and his laughter is contagious. I’d happily take photos of us laughing together than a perfectly lit, perfectly posed work of art. Life is crazy but laughter, the joy of the one you love, it’s everything.
