maybe it’s the way the eerie sky slowly crawls over the town. maybe it’s the way the atmosphere shifts and the world seems to stand still just for a moment. maybe it’s the way the wind ripples across the windchimes and raindrops begin to tap against the grass. or maybe it’s the way the curtains slowly sway back and forth as the cool breeze drifts into the house. whatever it may be, i love storms. i know as a photographer, rainclouds generally something to be feared and we shy away from storms and hide away our lenses as if their very existence was threatened. but i absolutely love storms. in another life, i would have seriously considered storm chasing…or maybe i’m fooling myself into thinking that wouldnt absolutely terrify me being within walking distance of a twister or watching a water spout appear, but something about storms makes me nostalgic and gives me a foggy sense of romance.
before the storm rolled in today, i had another favorite things post planned which is now waiting patiently in my blogging cue. and before i shut down all computers and unplugged everything from the power outlets {hey, i adore storms but i’m not going to risk my work which sits ever so vulnerable against them} i had intended to get a little work done. but now, as i use the remainder of the laptop’s battery life listening to the wind and rain, i’m so incredibly grateful for a day of listening to the windchimes and cuddling with Garland and watching the rain fall. so, while unplanned, today’s favorite things: storms.
dwell in possibility…
