the lighting lit up the sky over the vast darkness of the ocean. the cruise ship gently rocked in the night. she looked at him, his seer sucker suit causing her heart to skip a beat when he smiled at her. as jon and rebecca talked, the electric charges continuing to spark over the water, her mind drifted to the start of it all. “jon is the one! mark this text” and mark it, she did. she was hesitant at the beginning – unsure of what she was ready for…but he was reserved, quiet, calming and he made her feel safe, he made her feel whole.
as her mind drifted, jon brought her attention to the distance they had come to know as the norm. jon’s commitments to the air force held him in ohio and while his home, his heart was with rebecca, she lived in the south. they both longed for that distance to vanish. and while rebecca gazed out over the sea, jon asked when the distance would be gone. the sparks across the night sky still holding her attention, rebecca didnt feel the weight of his question. “it’s up to you..” he continued, and the fullness of his question, along with his kneeling before her finally sunk in. shaking, crying, and speechless, she managed to murmur a yes, please before she fainted into his arms.
their wedding is right around the corner and with the excitement and anticipation building, she finds her calm in his arms. on saturday, he will be her anchor. rebecca will focus on jon’s face as he sees her for the first time, his bride walking towards him, the distance between them closing forever.
dwell in possibility…
